Ethics Studies

Why take Ethics Studies?

ethics

Ethics is the study of morality, or right and wrong behaviour. In Ethics, you will examine questions like: ''Why do we think certain things (for example, stealing) are bad?'' Ethics Studies approaches such questions in an applied, inter-disciplinary and open-ended way that is intended to allow you, the student, to freely express your opinions about such matters in an intelligent, informed and culturally sensitive way.

We believe that students of Ethics Studies will gain at least the following skills which will make you a valuable employee or entrepreneur:

  • A conscious awareness of your moral position on certain issues.
  • An ability to substantiate your value-based judgements by using sound reasons. This is a critical academic skill that will help you in all your studies.
  • An understanding of and tolerance towards people of differing cultures and walks of life.
  • An understanding of ethical theories and issues which will enable you to solve moral dilemmas in your personal and professional life.
